LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The fall portion of the 2018-19 SCAC women's golf season wrapped up on Tuesday afternoon as Southwestern and Schreiner competed at the Abilene Intercollegiate hosted by Hardin-Simmons University. Additionally, Johnson & Wales hosted a dual match against Colorado Christian.
Hardin-Simmons won the team title at the seven-team event with a 36-hole score of 637 (317-320), followed by Southwestern in fourth with 653 (333-320) strokes and Schreiner finishing in fifth with a team score of 661 (332-329).
Southwestern junior Leilani McDaniel captured medalist honors with a two-day score of 151 (78-73) on the par-71 6,009-yard Diamondback Course. McDaniel began the final round in sixth-place, five strokes behind the leader but fired a tournament low 73 to capture the title. On the week, McDaniel led the field with 24 pars and finished with three birdies.
Schreiner was led by junior Reygan Rodriguez after she finished in a three-way tie for second, just two strokes behind the medalist with a 36-hole total of 153 (79-74). Rodriguez finished the week with 18 pars and four birdies and was even in scoring on both the par-three and par-five holes.
In addition, Dallas sent individual Tiffany Han to compete at the Abilene Intercollegiate. Han finished in a two-way tie for 35th after posting a tournament total of 203 strokes.
Wrapping up the fall schedule, Johnson & Wales hosted a dual match against Colorado Christian University last week. JWU fell to CCU 473-312 in the one round event. Freshman Maya Romero led the Wildcats with a finish of 99 on the course.
