LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) selected a record 1,221 Swimming & Diving Scholar All-Americans for the 2018-19 year and six Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference student-athletes were recognized. Full Release
Southwestern University led the way with three student-athletes earning Scholar All-America recognition, followed by Trinity University with two and Colorado College with one.
SCAC Female Swimmer-of-the-Year and Co-Swimmer-of-the-Meet at the SCAC Championship, Rehgan Hartsell led the way for the Pirates, earning honorable mention honors. Teammate Jesse Stovall, who shared SCAC Swimmer-of-the-Meet with Hartshell and Ashley Harmon also earned honorable mention certificates.
SCAC Male Diver-of-the-Year, Daniel Valmassei of Trinity, repeated as a first team Scholar All-American, while three-time SCAC Male Swimmer-of-the-Meet, Jacob Hurrell-Zitelman represented the Tigers as an honorable mention recipient.
Colorado College diver Riley Wadehra was an honorable mention choice for the third consecutive year.
To be selected to the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, swimmers and divers must have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and have participated in their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Honorable Mention selections have similarly achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard or competed at their respective diving qualifying meets.
The selections were drawn from 181 colleges and universities across all Divisions.
