LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – It was tough week for Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s lacrosse programs as the teams were a combined 0-3 on the week.
On Saturday, Southwestern (8-6) traveled to Memphis where they were defeated by Rhodes, 13-12, in overtime. The Pirates held a 10-5 lead heading into the fourth-period but the Lynx scored five goals to send the game into overtime and scored halfway through the extra period to win. Southwestern was led by Logan Spalding who netted five goals while Jared Welsh, Zach Talyor and Kai Knight-Turcan put away two, each. The Pirates were a perfect 3-3 in man-up situtions. Goaltender Kyle Kuberski minded the net through all five periods, making 14 saves.
Colorado College (7-5) dropped a 15-9 decision on the road at Washington College on Sunday. Coby Petau paced the Tiger effort, collecting a hat-trick and now leads the team with 24 goals on the season. CC won 16-27 faceoff and finished with a 43-42 edge in ground balls. In net, junior goalkeeper Andrew Harwood managed 56:55 minutes, making 13 saves on 28 shots.
Johnson & Wales (1-8) fell to CSU-Pueblo at home on Saturday with Deshaunte Longley and Coleton Thelkeld picking up a goal each.
The SCAC men’s lacrosse schedule enters its second-to-last week with a pair of games on the schedule as Southwestern hosts Dallas and Johnson & Wales takes on Colorado Mesa.
