CLAREMONT, Calif. – The 13th-ranked Trinity men's tennis team defeated 26th-ranked Whitman (WA) College 5-0 at Claremont McKenna (CA) College in the second round of the NCAA Playoffs.
The Tigers got off to a hot start by taking a 3-0 lead after doubles and never looked back.
Wilson Hamilton and Christian Settles were the first doubles team off the court this afternoon with their solid 8-5 win at line three and now sit at 13-3 on the season.
Cameron Krimbill and Artur Zigman then earned an 8-4 win at line two and improved their doubles record to 11-5. Wilson Lambeth and Jordan Pitts picked up the win at line one to improve their win streak to nine straight matches and an 18-3 overall record.
In singles, the Tigers made quick work of the Blues as Krimbill and Hamilton earned straight-set wins over their opponents at lines three and four, respectively, to clinch the team victory.
Trinity will take on top-ranked host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CA) Colleges Saturday at 10 a.m. PDT, and the winner advances to the NCAA Quarterfinals May 20, at Kalamazoo, Michigan.
