LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women's swimming & diving teams were in action last week.
Trinity University hosted a dual meet against the University of Puget Sound on Tuesday. The meet featured non-standard races, and the Tigers earned a 123-88 victory.
Mabel Fowler won two women's individual events. Fowler swam the 150-yard backstroke in 1:35.10 and the 300-yard freestyle in 3:04.75. Lindsay Hagmann won 100-yard individual medley in 1:02.99 and the 150-yard freestyle at 1:26.79. Elizabeth Ryan was the champion of the 50-yard freestyle race.
The Tiger women also won the two relay events, starting with the 100-yard medley race. Caroline North, Hagmann, Star Rosales, and Ryan touched the final pad in 52.81 seconds. Five swimmers made up the final event of the day, the 450-yard freestyle relay. Rosales, Ryan, Fowler, Hagmann, and Abbie Jones clocked in at an outstanding 4:10.78.
The Colorado College swimming and diving teams opened the 2018 calendar year with a combined relay meet vs. Ohio Northern University Wednesday in Mesa, Ariz.
The Tigers won seven of the 15 events, including the diving relay by senior Mary Rose Donahue and sophomore Riley Wadehra with a score of 249.23.
The CC women won five of the six female-only relays, with seniors Emily Harrison and Justina Zuckerman, junior Hannah Warden and sophomore Jio Chang each posting three victories. Meanwhile, senior Ellen Silk, sophomore Selma Jukic and freshman Emily Erickson were each a member of two winning relays.
The McMurry Universite War Hawks competed against UT-Permian Basin last week, falling 171-56. Robyn Remschel accounted for both of the team's individual wins, taking top honors in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 28.79 seconds and in the 500-yard freestyle (5:42.07).
Other top women's placers included Jessica Gryder, who was second in the 100 freestyle (59.37) and fourth in the 50 free (27.47). Mariah Rhoades was third in the 100 freestyle (59.57) and senior Katie Gorka finished third in the 500 freestyle (6:04.75).
