LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The season continued for the seven baseball teams in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, as half of the spots in the 2018 SCAC Baseball Championship were secured by Trinity University and Centenary College.
It was a competitive weekend, as no team swept their series on the weekend, but Trinity and Centenary did enough to secure their spots in the postseason.
The Tigers took the first two games from Schreiner University on the road, but it was an extra-innings celebration for the Mountaineers on Sunday as junior Hudson Valenti hit a walk-off single to upset to nation's top-ranked team.

After the weekend, Trinity moved to 10-2 in the SCAC and 28-3 overall, while Schreiner is now 3-12 in conference and 12-23 for the season.
No. 13 Texas Lutheran University looked to move up the standings, facing off against one of the top teams in conference play this season. The Bulldogs took games one and two from Centenary, but after leading through six innings TLU gave up the lead in the series finale and wasn't able to come back. Centenary moved to 19-12 for the season with a 10-2 record in the SCAC and Texas Lutheran is 8-4 in league action, 26-8 overall.
In the final conference series of the weekend, Austin College kept its postseason hopes alive, taking two-of-three games against Southwestern University. After a rough start to the series where the 'Roos fell 25-7 to the Pirates, the team bounced back to earn 12-2 and 11-3 wins. Austin College currently sits fourth in the league standings with a record of 6-6 (13-12 overall), while Southwestern is behind at 6-9 and 13-18 overall.
Out of conference play, Trinity went 3-0 against opponents from the ASC, defeating Concordia (TX) and Sul Ross State. The University of Dallas swept a series against Dallas Christian, outscoring them 37-14.
