Trinity Extends Lead After Day Two of SCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championship

THE COLONY, Texas - Trinity University picked up a win in the 200 free relay and two of the three individual events contested Thursday evening to extend its lead at the 2018 SCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championship. Official Website | Thursday's Complete Results | Photo Gallery

Trinity's rotation of Star Rosales, Elizabeth Ryan, Lauren Cuda and Lindsay Hagmann finished in a time of 1:35.45 - the second-fastest time in the history of the event and a NCAA 'B' cut - to earn the top podium spot. Colorado College placed second in a time of 1:37.32 and Southwestern University was third in 1:37.86.

The Tigers' finished 1-2-3 in the 500 free as Mabel Fowler took top honors with a time of 5;04.53, Rebecca Andruzzi was second in 5:15.24, and last year's champion Payton Green was third in a time of 5:15.67. It was the second time in the last three years that Trinity swimmers have taken the top three spots in the event.

Southwestern's Rehgan Hartsell snapped Trinity's string of Thursday victories as she finished first in the 200 IM in a time of 2:08.45. She became just the third Southwestern female to win the event and the first since Natalie Lesnick took top honors in 2015. Lauren Cuda of Trinity was second in a time of 2:11.64 and Jio Chang of Colorado College placed third in 2:12.21.

Trinity's Lindsay Hagmann defended her crown in the 50 free with a finishing time of 23.90. She had set a NCAA 'B' cut standard earlier in the day with a 23.67 in prelims. Justina Zuckerman of Colorado College finished second with a time of 24.30 and Star Rosales of Trinity was third in a time of 24;46.
