TLU's Rynard Highlights Friday Action at NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

LA CROSSE, Wisc. -- Texas Lutheran University's Ashley Rynard earned a trip to the finals in the women's 800 meter run to highlight Friday's action at the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Rynard became the first TLU middle-distance runner to make a national final after shattering the school record in the 800 with a time of 2 minutes, 9.79 seconds. She shaved nearly three full seconds off her previous school-record mark of 2:12.65. Rynard was the eighth-fastest in the preliminary round of the 800.

Nkolika Nweke finished 17th in the women's 100 meter dash, posting a time of 12.67 and finishing fifth in the third and final heat of the evening. Nweke was 16th in the 100 meter race at last year's national meet.
