LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The battle at the top of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer standings remains heated as three teams remain within a point of each other.
Trinity University holds onto the top spot in the league with 18 points, but the University of Dallas and Colorado College sit close behind with 17 and 16 points, respectively.
Trinity (10-1, 6-1 SCAC) moved to five straight wins with a sweep of Austin College and Centenary College this weekend, outscoring the two teams 6-2.
Dallas (6-1-2, 5-0-2 SCAC) and Colorado College (7-2-2, 5-1-1 SCAC) each swept their weekend opponents, Southwestern University and Texas Lutheran University. The two teams had identical scores against their opponents, defeating TLU 1-0 and Southwestern 2-1.
Austin College (5-3-3, 3-2-2 SCAC) put up a fight against Trinity, scoring their lone goal in the 61st minute to make it a one-goal game. Neither team could find the back of the net late in the second half and the 'Roos fell 2-1 to the Tigers. Austin College currently sits in fourth place with 11 points.
Southwestern (3-5-3, 1-3-3 SCAC) comes in at fifth in the standings after a tough weekend at home. Texas Lutheran (2-7-2, 1-5-1 SCAC) and Centenary (1-7-2, 1-5-1 SCAC) are tied for sixth in the standings. The Gents recorded one win this weekend, defeating Schreiner 2-0 Sunday.
The Mountaineers (2-7-2, 0-5-2 SCAC) round out the group in eighth place.
