NEW ORLEANS, La. - U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the 2017-18 All-Academic Teams and Scholar Athletes and eight Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference programs and 19 student-athletes were recognized.
Colorado College, University of Dallas and Southwestern University garnered All-Academic Team honors on both the men's and women's side. The CC men posted a team GPA of 3.44 while the women led all SCAC teams with a 3.52 GPA. The UD men's squad boasted a team GPA of 3.17 and the women's team posted a cumulative GPA of 3.12, while the Pirates achieved a 3.11 GPA on the men's side and a 3.36 GPA on the women's side.
The Texas Lutheran University (3.20 GPA) and Trinity University (3.30 GPA) women were also recognized as All-Academic Teams.
A total of 291 teams (185 women's, 106 men's) were honored for their academics by the USTFCCCA. To view all 291 teams, click here.
In addition, the Bulldogs and the TU Tigers each had seven student-athletes honored, while the CC Tigers were represented by five student-athletes placed on the All-Academic Individual list.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and must have either competed at the NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship or finished the regular season ranked in the nation top-50 in an individual event or ranked in the national top-35 in a relay event on the official NCAA Descending Order List.
Including the Scholar Athletes of the Year, a total of 1,035 men and women earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during the 2017-18 track & field seasons.
