LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The conference race heated up last week as six teams continued league play.
No. 1 Trinity University and No. 12 Texas Lutheran University faced off in Seguin last week, and the Tigers came out on top, winning the series 2-1. All three games remained close, with Texas Lutheran outscoring Trinity 15-14 over the weekend.
After the series, Trinity moves to 19-2 on the season and 8-1 in the SCAC, while Texas Lutheran is 21-6 and 3-3 in conference.
Southwestern University is now on a four-game winning streak, taking all three games of the series against Schreiner University. The Pirates were off to a strong start in the first two games, winning each 10-2, but the Mountaineers made it close in the final contest and kept the game tied until the ninth inning, when Southwestern ended things with a walk-off single from R.J. Senining.
In the final conference series of the week, Austin College faced the University of Dallas in Irving. The 'Roos took the first two games, including an 11-inning victory over the Crusaders to kick off the weekend. The two teams joined back up for the second half of the doubleheader, where Austin College earned a 7-6 win over UD. The Crusaders closed out the series with a big 11-1 victory to move to 9-17 on the season and 2-7 in conference play.
Austin College is now 8-10 on the season and 2-4 in the SCAC.
Centenary also competed last week, playing a three-game series against the University of Texas - Tyler. The Gents took one of the three games to move to 15-9 on the season. They are currently 6-0 in the SCAC.
