LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Four of the league's five women's teams were in action at the D3 West Regional, which was contested at the Berry Creek Country Club in Georgetown, Texas.
The Southwestern University women closed their regular season with a win at the event, shooting a 345 in round two for a two-round score of 670 (+94) on Tuesday afternoon. Schreiner placed second with a two-round score of 678 (+102) while Hardin-Simmons placed third with a 682 (+106). Mary Hardin-Baylor and Texas-Tyler closed out the top five with a pair of 683s (+107) to tie for fourth.
Trinity University placed seventh with a two-day score of 687 (+111) and Texas Lutheran University followed in eighth with a two-round score of 710 (+134).
Southwestern junior Valentina Olivieri-Puentes earned a second place finish after shooting an 82 (+10) on Tuesday for a two-round score of 162 (+18), and sophomore teammate Emily Campbell placed 10th with a two-round score of 168 (+24).
Schreiner was led by juniors Alyssa Holbrook and Piper Gleadhill, who finished fourth and seventh, respectively. Holbrook shot a two-day total of 165 (+21) while Gleadhill finished two strokes back with a 167 (+23).
The Trinity women wrapped up the second round with a team total of 349 to conclude the event with a score of 687. Junior Elizabeth McGillivray was the top finisher for the Tigers and ended in a tie for tenth, carding an 85 in the second round to finish with a 168 over the two days.
Texas Lutheran posted a team score of 364 on Tuesday and finished the tournament with a total of 710. Sophomore Summer Swift led TLU with a tie for 18th. Swift carded an 83 on Monday and an 89 on Tuesday.
Next up for this group is the SCAC Championships which will be contested at the Panther Trail Golf Course at The Woodlands, Texas, April 23-24.
