KANSAS CITY -- The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the 2018 NABC Coaches' Division III All-District teams and coaches Monday, recognizing the best men's collegiate basketball student-athletes and coaches in the division.
Schreiner University's Keenan Gumbs earned first team All-South region honors, while Centenary College's Travion Kirkendoll was named to the second team.
Gumbs, a senior guard for the Mountaineers, has had a breakout season, earning the league's Player of the Year award, while also leading Schreiner to its first SCAC Men's Basketball Championship and a first-ever trip to the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament.
Gumbs finished the season as the conference's second leading scorer, averging 21.2 points per game and shooting just under 50% from the field. He was also second in the conference, shooting 43.3% from distance. In conference play, he led the SCAC with 20.9 points per game. Defensively, he averaged 7.3 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.
Kirkendoll, a senior guard for the Gents, earns All-Region honors after helping Centenary back to the SCAC Championship game for the first time since 2015. Kirkendoll led the conference with 22.2 points per game while shooting 51.5% from the field. He was second in the league with 60 steals on the season, and averaged 5.0 rebounds per game. He also dished out 89 assists.
