LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Three of the league's five women's golf teams wrapped up the 2017 fall season at the Abilene Intercollegiate hosted by Hardin-Simmons University.
The Southwestern University women's golf team closed the fall season with a win, shooting a 306 (+22) in the second round for a two round score of 613 (+45), pulling away for the 16-stroke victory at the Diamondhead Golf Course. Texas Lutheran University finished sixth with a 656 and Centenary College followed in seventh with a two-day score of 675.
Pirate sophomore Emily Campbell won the event, shooting a 73 (+2) for the second straight day for a two round score of 146 (+4) to win the event by one stroke. Campbell had three birdies on 15, 17, and 18. She defeated fellow SCAC opponent, Jessica Varner of Centenary College, by one stroke for medalist honors. Varner had round of 74 and 73 to finish with a 147 (+5).
Also posting top 10 individual finishes were Southwestern juniors Katie Dyo, who was fifth after shooting a 75 (+4) for a two round score of 155 (+13) and Valentina Olivieri-Puentes, who shot an 81 (+10) for a two round score of 158 (+16) and a seventh-place finish.
Summer Swift led Texas Lutheran with a two-day total of 160 (+18) and finished tied for 13th.
Southwestern concludes its fall season with two team victories and two second place finishes.
