LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - All but one of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball teams competed last week, with Trinity University and Southwestern University kicking off heir seasons.
The teams combined for a 10-8 record, with two teams still unbeaten for the season.
Trinity opened the season with a 2-0 start, defeating University of Houston - Victoria twice on the road, while Texas Lutheran University continued its strong start, moving to 5-0 with three wins at the Rusty Greer/Jackie Moore Classic in Grand Prairie. The Bulldogs defeated Willamette University on Friday before taking down Hendrix College and LeTourneau on Saturday. This is the best start for the program since the 2013 season.
The University of Dallas swept their series against Mississippi University for Women, including a dramatic walk-off finish in Saturday's second game. Dallas' Nathan Patton hit a single to left field in the bottom of the seventh inning to bring in the winning run from third.
Centenary College split its games against Belhaven University, defeating the Blazers 10-0 in seven innings to open the doubleheader. The Gents fell 7-6 in the second contest.
