Trinity Leads After Day One of SCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championship

THE COLONY, Texas - Trinity University shattered the old SCAC championship mark in the 800 freestyle relay and hold a 110-96 lead over Southwestern University after the first day of the 2018 SCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championship. Official Website | Wednesday's Complete Results | Photo Gallery

The team of Lindsay Hagmann, Mabel Fowler, Abbie Jones and Lauren Cuda touched in a time of 7:38.81 to break the old SCAC 800 free relay mark of 7:43.53 set in 2011 by Centre College. The victory, which was also good for a NCAA 'B' cut, marked the second consecutive win for the Tigers in the event and the fifth in the last six years. Colorado College finished second in a time of 7:53.50 and Southwestern was third in 7:56.63.

In the evening's first race, the 200 medley relay, the team of Kate Russell, Rehgan Hartsell, Cara Chin and Erika Dubros gave Southwestern its first-ever win in the even in SCAC championship competition, barely out-touching Trinty in a time of 1:47.11. The TU Tigers placed second in a time of 1:47.17 and Colorado College followed in third in a time of 1:48.29. 

The team standings after the first two events is as follows:

1) Trinity University - 110
2) Southwestern University - 96
3) Colorado College - 94
4) McMurry University - 60
5) Centenary College - 56
6) University of the Ozarks - 48
7) Austin College - 36
