Trinity Picks Up Two All-America Awards on Final Day of NCAAs

LA CROSSE, Wisc. -- Trinity University's Britney Sullivan posted an All-America finish on the final day of the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Sullivan earned a seventh-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 11.75 meters on her second attempt of the day, which qualified her for the finals. That turned out to be her best mark of the event and held up for an All-American finish.

Texas Lutheran University's Ashley Rynard and Trinity's Molly McCullough also competed.

McCullough raced to a ninth-place finish in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, finishing in 10:46.56 and missing out on All-America status by five seconds. McCullough improved by nearly 20 seconds from her performance at last year's nationals and was seconds from her own personal-best time.

Rynard posted a time of 2 minutes, 15.43 seconds, just missing All-America honors. The top eight in each national championship event receive All-America recognition.

Rynard became the first TLU middle-distance runner to make a national final after shattering the school record in the 800 Friday with a time of 2 minutes, 9.79 seconds. She shaved nearly three full seconds off her previous school-record mark of 2:12.65.

Texas Lutheran and Trinity tied for 72nd place at the meet, each collecting two points.
