LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Centenary College Ladies were the only SCAC women's team in action this week.
Playing over the weekend in a field consisting of predominantly NCAA Division II programs, the Ladies improved 32 strokes from day one to day two, the biggest improvement of any team from the first to second round, to finish ninth at the Minot State Intercollegiate at the Aliante Golf Club in Las Vegas.
Centenary (744, +168) bested Chadron State by 48 strokes and Minnesota-Crookston by 57. Rocky Mountain College won the tournament with a 647 (+71), holding off a fast charging Minnesota State by two strokes.
Junior Jessica Varner finished the day with a 79 (+7) and finished 17th with a two-round total of 165 (+21). Junior Taylor Adair turned in an 89 (+17) to take 38th at 177 (+33).
On Tuesday, competing as individuals, Varner and Adair carded the first and third best rounds of the day to finish 1-2 for the Ladies in the final round of the Pinecrest Intercollegiate hosted by LeTourneau.
Varner turned in a 78 (+6) in the final round for a two-day total of 152 (+8) to win her fourth tournament of the season.
