CLAREMONT, Calif. -- Alexis Dimanche of Southwestern University opened his first-ever NCAA Single Championship appearance with a win, before falling the second round.
By winning his first round contest, Dimanche earned All-America status. In the first round, he found himself in a battle against Swarthmore's Mark Fallati. The first set was a nail biter as the competitors exchanged games early. With the set tied 4-4 Dimanche turned up the pressure and won the next two games to take set one 6-4.
With momentum on his side Dimanche pressed on and took a slight advantage early and secured the match win with a 6-2 set two win to advance to the round of 16.
Dimanche faced #3 seed Al Houni from Gustavus Aldophus in the second round and dropped the match 7-6(6) 6-1.
In doubles, the draw put Trinity University's Jordan Pitts and Wilson Lambeth up against Lubomir Cuba and Kyle Schlanger from Middlebury College. The Tiger duo dropped the first set of their match on Thursday 6-2 and were unable to bounce back in the second, falling 6-4.
