LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - D3baseball.com released its second Team of the Week selections Monday evening and three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball players were selected.
Trinity University's John Tucker was recognized in the catcher position, while University of Dallas third baseman Nathan Patton took the third base spot. SCAC Offensive Player of the Week Riley Schaefer of Texas Lutheran University rounded out the honorees in the outfield.
Tucker, a junior from Houston, Texas, had an outstanding weekend at the plate, going .500 (8-for-12) over the Tiger's three games. He had two doubles among his six base hits. He also picked up four RBI and scored three runs.
Patton, a sophomore from McKinney, Texas, batted .600 (3-for-5) for the Crusaders. He hit two doubles, drove in two and scored four times. He handled fielding chores at the hot corner with a 1.000 fielding average.
Schaefer, a senior from Thorndale, Texas, posted a .625 batting average (10-for-16) for the four games TLU faced this week. He had eight RBIs with eight total runs scored, helping the Bulldogs improve to a 9-0 record overall. He slugged 1.000 with a double, triple and home run.
This is the second week in a row that the SCAC has had three players recognized on the team.
