Trinity Women's Tennis Swept by Pomona-Pitzer

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The 20th-ranked Trinity University women's tennis team fell 5-0 to seventh-ranked Pomona-Pitzer (CA) Colleges in the second round of the NCAA Championships.

The Sage Hens struck first in doubles competition and took the first point of the match with an 8-2 win over Mary Kaffen and Zoe Kaffen at line one.

Caroline Kutach and Cheyenne Duncan then suffered an 8-3 loss at line three, and Andrea De Leon and Marie Lutz dropped the final doubles point with an 8-1 loss at line two.

In singles, De Leon was unable to pull out a win and fell 6-0, 6-3 at line five, and Lutz suffered the same fate at line three to give Pomona-Pitzer a 5-0 victory. The Tigers wrap up the season with an overall team record of 13-11.

Kutach will return to Claremont, California, to compete in the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Singles Championships from May 24-26.
