COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Battling in the third-place match for the second consecutive year, Austin College prevailed again just as it did a year ago, defeating Colorado College, 5-4, at the 2018 SCAC Women's Tennis Championship Sunday morning at Memorial Park. Just like the AC men, the third-place finish for the 'Roos women (13-8 overall) at the SCAC tournament marks the second straight year the team has achieved its highest finish in program history.
Unlike the men, the Austin College women had to fight back from an early deficit after Colorado College took two of the first three doubles points.
Chandler Morris evened the match with a victory at No. 6 singles and Anna Sergiovanni gave the 'Roos their first lead of the match at 3-2 with a victory in No. 3 singles.
Colorado College took two of the next decided individual matches - leaving the team decision to be decided by the match-up at No. 2 singles between Diana Carvajalino of Austin College and Jenna McDonald of Colorado College. The two battled to a third set before Carvajalino prevailed.
