LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Five of the league's six men's golf teams were in action this week at the West Region Invitational in Georgetown, Texas.
Southwestern University won the event, holding off Concordia (Texas) and Mary Hardin-Baylor, with a three-round score of 899 (+35) after shooting a 306 in final round.
The Tornadoes placed second with at three-round score of 905 (+41) while the Crusaders were third at 909 (+45). Hardin-Simmons earned a fourth place finish at 917 (+53) while Texas Lutheran University wrapped up the top five at 918 (+54).
Pacing the Pirates were junior Matthew Christl and sophomore Cade Osgood who each shot a 74 (+2) in the final round for a three-round score of 222 (+6) to finish tied for second among individuals.
TLU junior Colin Uecker fired fired a 1-under 71 Tuesday to lead the Bulldogs and moved into a tie for ninth among the 50 competing individuals.
Schreiner University finished just outside the top five in sixth place and was led by senior Jacob Gentry who finished in a tie for 12th with a three-round score of 229 (+13).
The Trinity University men finished in seventh and wrapped up the final round with a team score of 314 to finish the event with a three total of 926. Senior Redmond Lyons was Trinity's top finisher after carding a 73 today and a 223 after three rounds to place fourth overall.
Entering play in sixth after 36 holes, the University of Dallas men sruggled with a 322 in the third round and dipped to eighth overall with a 935 finish.
Sophomore Jacob Wade shot the lowest round score for UD with a 79 and finished in the standings tied for 17th thanks to a 231.
Next up for this group is the SCAC Championships which will be contested at the Panther Trail Golf Course at The Woodlands, Texas, April 23-24.
