LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The outdoor track & field season continued for teams in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Five of the six programs competed last week, with a large contingent traveling to Abilene, Texas for the Warhawk Invitational.
For Austin College, Chris Biffar placed fifth in the men's 5000 meter run, finishing with a time o 17:31.41. He also took fifth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:25.35. Alex Quinn won the 10000 meter race, posting a time of 43:25.76.
Dallas also competed at McMurry, with a meet highlighted by Joseph Kilmer and Prince Giadolor. Kilmer scored two points with a seventh place finish in the 1500, posting a time of 4:26.54, while Giadolor recorded his best 100 meter dash time since 2016, finishing the race in 10.96 seconds for eighth place.
Southwestern's John Hattan earned a second place finish in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 10:25.41 while Joshua Im was sixth in the 5000 meter with a time of 17:40.24. Ty Dunlap, Brian McCutcheon, Gregory McDade and Devin Rosas put together a season best in the 4x100 with a time of 44.42 to take eighth place. Tyler Adams earned a fourth place finish in the hammer at 43.95m while finishing sixth in the javelin at 40.92m. Sam Grubbs added an eighth place finish in the hammer at 41.97m.
The Texas Lutheran University Bulldogs captured the team title at McMurry, edging UT-Tyler by one point. The Bulldogs posted 12 top-three finishes at the meet, including a pair of first place finishes by Alejandro Briseno in the hammer throw (47.43m) and Paris Foster in the 100 meter dash (10.64).
The Bulldogs got second place finishes from Trevor Roberts in the javelin (51.47m), Chad Wieland in the pole vault (4.41m), Foster in the 110 hurdles (14.66), Ian Hones in the 400 hurdles (57.43) and Christopher Monroe in the 200 meter dash (22.32). The Bulldogs' 4x100 relay team also finished second, posting a time of 42.64 seconds.
Elsewhere in Texas, TLU's Marquis Brown competed at the Rice University Invitational where he posted a season-best time of 47.75 seconds in the 400 meter dash, winning the event made up of mostly Division I competition. His time is the fastest in Division III so far this season.
Trinity University's team was also split between Rice and McMurry, with most of the team attending the Warhawk Invite. Cody Hall was the lone Tiger to win individually, hitting the finish line in 14.65 seconds to win the 110 meter hurdles. He was also third with a mark of 1.93 meters in the high jump.
Naim Barnett was second in the men's triple jump, while Seve Rodriguez was third in the 400 meter.Matt Love finished third in the discus. Barnett was joined on the third-place Tiger 4x100 meter relay team by Romeo De Leon, Christian Matta, and Blair Walker, finishing in 42.65 seconds and missing out on second by a mere 0.01 seconds. Matta was also fifth in the 200 meter dash, followed closely by Walker just 0.09 seconds later in sixth place.
In Houston, Jacob Hammond and Michael Erickson finished sixth and seventh in the men's 3000 meter steeplechase. Hammond finished in 9:41.53, followed by Erickson just under five seconds later. Brian Wongchotigul was eighth in the men's 10,000 meter run, while Keaton Holt earned an 11th-place finish in the event. Elliot Blake was 11th in the 5000 meter run.
