KAMDEN ROSS OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a senior center from Cibolo, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, January 13 through Sunday, January 19. SCAC Men's Basketball Release (Week 10)

Ross was a dominant force in leading the Mountaineers to a pair of road SCAC victories last week at Austin College and Dallas. The senior averaged 28.0 points on nearly 70 percent shooting (69.4) and added 8.0 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, 1.5 steals and 1.0 assist per game. Ross’ top performance came when he poured in a season-high 33 points, including 22 in the second half to help lead Schreiner to a 20-point come from behind victory over the Crusaders on Saturday. Ross is now just 27 points shy of becoming just the 19th athlete in SCAC Men’s Basketball history to reach the 1,500 point plateau after pouring in 20 or more points in three of his last four contests and 11 total times this season.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior forward Jakobi Greenleaf of Centenary had a monster week for the Gents as he averaged 19.7 points per game on 54.1 percent shooting and grabbed 9.3 rebounds per game, highlighted by a career-high 26 points on Friday against Southwestern. He scored 22 against Austin College last Tuesday with 11 rebounds and capped the weekend with another double-double (11 points and 10 rebounds) on Sunday versus TLU. He totaled eight assists, four blocked shots and three steals on the week to help the Gents to a 2-1 record in SCAC action. Senior forward Devin Philio of Colorado College notched a career-high of 24 points in a 92-75 win over McMurry on Sunday afternoon. He was dominant from the floor against the War Hawks, shooting 81.8 percent (9-11). The Aurora native finished the weekend averaging, 21.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals, and 2.0 blocks per game against Concordia (TX) and McMurry. He also went 12-15 from the free throw line over the two games. Senior wing Justice Marmara of Ozarks continues his strong season, pushing the Eagles to their 12th win of the year after averaging 14.0 points and 4.7 rebounds over three games last week. Against Dallas, Marmara scored 18 points and then followed that with a 13-point and 11-point efforts in wins over Texas Lutheran and Southwestern. Marmara is the team's leader scoring this season and is hitting 41 percent from the three-point line, fifth best in the SCAC with 50-plus attempts. Senior guard Marion Williams of St. Thomas came off the bench and delivered in a big way, averaging 16.5 points per game on 54.5 percent shooting despite playing 17.5 minutes per game. Williams knocked down seven three-point field goals, including five in Sunday’s win over Concordia as he poured in 23 points, eclipsing the 20-point plateau for the second time this year. In addition to his scoring, Williams added 1.5 steals, 1.0 assists and 0.5 rebounds per contest to help the Celts remain the lone unbeaten team in SCAC play. Junior guard Mason Wallace of Texas Lutheran was outstanding in helping the Bulldogs snap their four game losing streak with a game-high 18 points on a perfect 6-for-6 from three-point range to lift TLU to a 80-66 win over Centenary on Sunday. On the week, Wallace averaged 15.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 blocks per game, while connecting on a blistering 70.0 precent from three-point range.
