IRVING, Texas -- Top-seeded Trinity University advanced to the SCAC tournament semifinals for the 27th consecutive year following a 3-1 win over eighth-seeded Schreiner University Friday afternoon at the Ed Maher Athletic Center on the campus of the University of Dallas. HOW IT HAPPENED
- Schreiner open the match hitting an impressive .306 to take a 1-0 lead after winning the first set, 25-15, as the Mountaineers held Trinity to just a .111 hitting percentage. The set win was the first for Schreiner against Trinity since 2018.
- Trinity responded in the second set, winning 25-21, in large part to a remarkable sideout percentage, forcing a sideout on 16-of-22 opportunities (72%). The second set featured eight ties and two lead changes.
- The Tigers then saw its most productive set from a hitting percentage standpoint in the third set, connecting on a .310 clip to take the important frame, 25-13.
- Trinity claimed a 3-1 victory after winning the fourth set, 25-19. After hitting .306 as a team in the first set, Schreiner finished the match hitting .149 as a squad, while Trinity finished with a .224 hitting percentage.
- For the match Trinity finished with 17 errors, compared to 22 from Schreiner. The Tigers finished with six services aces, while the Mountaineers ended with five.
