MARLEY HILTON OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a junior pitcher from Troy, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, April 5 through Sunday, April 11.
Hilton went 2-0 in the circle last week for the Mountaineers, picking up a win over Trinity last Wednesday and Austin College last Saturday. She went the distance in the critical 2-1 victory over the Tigers to secure a two-game sweep. In 10 total innings, Hilton scattered just seven hits and allowed just three earned runs while striking out 11. She posted a 2.10 ERA and averaged 7.70 strikeouts per seven innings.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior pitcher Lindsey Longuet of St. Thomas went 1-1 last week in the circle for the Celts. In the rubber match against Southwestern, Longuet pitched a complete game shutout, striking out three to help lead the Celts to a series win over the Pirates. Freshman pitcher Ashlyn Strother of Texas Lutheran struck out seven and did not allow a run in four innings of work this past weekend. She allowed just two hits in the Bulldogs' 9-0 victory over University of Dallas. She did not walk a batter. Strother improved to 8-1 overall and lowered her season ERA to 1.13. Senior pitcher Allie Holbrook of Trinity collected a pair of decisions, including a complete-game shutout, in the Tigers’ series victory over Centenary last weekend, allowing just one earned run over her 12 innings of work in the three-game set. Overall, for last week, the Tiger senior notched a 1.67 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 21 innings with 20 strikeouts.
