DEVIN HOOPER OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a graduate student outfielder from Leander, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Saturday, February 4 through Sunday, February 12. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 1
Hooper was outstanding at the plate last weekend, leading the Mountaineers to a three-game sweep over McMurry to open the 2023 campaign, starting 3-0 for the first time in the SCAC era (2014-present). He batted .500, going 7-for-14 with six RBI, five runs scored, a home run and a triple. Hooper collected a hit and scored a run in each game and finished with a .571 on-base percentage.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman outfielder Lenny Forth of Centenary was red hot at the plate in the Gents four games versus Ozarks, batting .467 (7-for-15) with five RBI, two doubles, and five runs scored. Sophomore catcher Nicholas Lazzara of Trinity went 5-for-12 at the plate in the Tigers three games versus Birmingham-Southern, batting .417 with four RBI, two home runs, and three runs scored. Senior outfielder Cameron McClure of St. Thomas went 5-for-11 at the plate in the Celts three games versus Howard Payne, batting .455 with one RBI, and three runs scored.
