CARSON KIRK OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a junior from Austin, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played from Monday, February 28 through Sunday, March 6. (SCAC Men's Tennis Weekly Report - Week 5)
Kirk posted a 2-0 week at the No. 1 line for the Mountaineers, picking up a 6-2, 6-2 match-clinching victory against Randal Lemmon of ETBU on Friday and then following that up with a convincing 6-3, 6-2 win against LeTourneau's Rodrigo Vazquez on Saturday. He currently sports a 7-1 record at No. 1 singles for Schreiner.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Junior Tyler Head of St. Thomas earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory to dominate his No. 2 singles match in Saturday's thrilling 5-4 victory over Mary Hardin-Baylor. Senior Cameron Krimbill of Trinity continued his undefeated start to the 2022 season against NCAA III competition with another line-one victory on Sunday. The two-time All-American collected a dominating 6-2, 6-0 win to open the SCAC season for the Tigers, who went on to complete the 9-0 sweep of Colorado College. Junior Steven Tibbetts of Southwestern went 1-0 last week, posting a 6-1, 6-0 victory over LeTourneau's Andres Urretia to help lead the Pirates to the 7-2 team victory over the Yellowjackets.
