HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The game was a defensive affair as neither team shot over 40.0 percent from the floor. Both teams shot 38 percent from the field. 
  • The teams combined to force 36 turnovers during the contest. 
  • In a matchup of two evenly matched teams, the game featured six ties and five lead changes. 
  • With under 10 seconds remaining and the shot clock about to expire, Schreiner's Cervantes drove through the lane and avoided a Colorado College defender as he was able to finish his layup with four seconds remaining in regulation. 
  • After a Colorado College timeout, the Tigers were able to race the ball down the floor but could not quite get the game-tying shot attempt off.
  • Centenary's bench outscored TLU's 19-7.

NOTABLE
  • Colorado College and Schreiner met in the SCAC tournament for the first time. The Tigers swept both regular season matchups between the two this year.
  • It marked the second consecutive year that Schreiner advanced to the semifinals on a last possession shot. The Mountaineers beat Southwestern, 51-50, in the 2022 SCAC quarterfinals on a shot at the buzzer. 
  • Schreiner began the game 0-of-17 from beyond the arc before the Mountaineer made their final two attempts from long range. 
  • Centenary is now 4-3 all-time in SCAC quarterfinal games. TLU falls to 3-2 all-time in quarterfinal round action.
  • Friday's quarterfinal result marked the third consecutive tournament and the fourth time in the last five years the fifth seed has defeated the fourth seed in SCAC men's tournament play.
  • Colorado College ends its season at 12-14.
