Kamden Ross, Schreiner University, Player of the Week (Week 10)

KAMDEN ROSS OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a first-year forward from Cibolo, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, January 10 through Sunday, January 16. SCAC Men's Basketball Release (Week 10)

Ross led the Mountaineers to a fifth-straight win last week, recording his fifth double-double of the season in a 64-60 home victory over Texas Lutheran, pouring in 19 points and grabbing a season-high 15 boards, including eight offensive rebounds. His performance marked the fifth time in the last six games he has been in double-figures for scoring and the third time this year he has reached the 15-point plateau. Ross connected on an outstanding 72.7 percent shooting from the field (8-for-11) including the go-ahead bucket with five seconds left to lift Schreiner to victory. He is the first Mountaineer to record at least 19 points and 15 rebounds since Matthew Rindahl accomplished the feat back in January 2020. Ross also finished the game with two blocks, steals, and assists.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior guard AJ Hall of Centenary averaged 22 points on 51.9 percent shooting last week in a pair of wins, including pouring in 34 in the Gents, 105-69 victory at home over Southwestern last Wednesday. His 34 points was a career-high and he drained nine three-point field goals in the process, tied for the fifth most in SCAC history for a single game. Freshman guard Scott Ruegg of Colorado College led the Tigers with 17 points and five assists and shared the team lead with a season-high seven rebounds during Saturday’s 80-76 setback to Trinity. Senior guard Kyle Poerschke of Southwestern scored the final nine points in the Pirates’ win over Dallas, including the game-winning three-point play with less than a second remaining. Poerschke averaged 18 points, eight rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.0 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game last week. Senior guard Christian Alaekwe of St. Thomas scored a game-high 18 points and added three rebounds and three assists in a key 59-51 win over Trinity last Thursday. Alaekwe has now scored 15 or more points in six-straight contests, including hitting the 20-point plateau twice in that stretch. First-year guard Jacob Harvey of Trinity had a breakout week in a tough slate in SCAC play last week, twice leading the Tigers in scoring across three matchups. His career-high 19 points in Trinity's last-minute victory at Colorado College on Saturday came just two days after scoring 10 points, nine consecutively, in the Tigers' second-half rally while he posted a career-high five steals against defending SCAC champions, St. Thomas.
