Trinity Holds Slim Lead After Day Two of SCAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championship

GARLAND, Texas - Trinity University used five top-three finishes to maintain a slim 10-point lead over Colorado College on night two of the 2022 SCAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championship at the Garland ISD Natatorium. Official Website | Thursday's Complete Results Photo Gallery | Video Interviews Playlist

With 332 points, the Texas Tigers hold a slim 10-point margin over Colorado College . The CC Tigers remain in second place with 322 total points. Southwestern University rounds out the top three as the Pirates sit in third place with 252 points.

Trinity began the night with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay after touching the wall in a SCAC open and championship meet record time of 1:20.77. Trinity set the SCAC open record at last year's NCAA Championship meet. The time also earned the foursome of Michael Kohl, Nolan Anthony, Nathanie Early, and Caleb Manifold an NCAA "B" cut time. The win also marked the ninth title in the past 12 years in the event and was the 12th overall win for the Tigers. Colorado College placed second after touching the wall in 1:23.17. Edmund Davis (pictured) of Colorado College took home top honors in the 500-yard freestyle after he touched the wall in 4:33.84 for his first SCAC individual championship. It marked the second straight year that Colorado College won the event. Davis' teammate Will Barber finished second with a time of 4:39.92 while Southwestern's Zach Kangieser was third after he clocked a time of 4:40.77. 500-Yard Freestyle Interview

The 200-yard IM saw Collin Ralston of Colorado College win the event with a time of 1:51.60. Ralston earned his second career individual title after finishing in second place at last year's conference championship. Trinity finished second and third in the event as Matt Lanzara (second - 1:52.15) and John Key (third - 1:52.64) rounded out the top-three finishers. 200-Yard IM Interview

 

In the night's final event, Trinity University's Kohl won the 50-yard freestyle with a B cut time of 20.25. With the win, he became the eighth swimmer in SCAC championship history to repeat as champion in the event. Southwestern's Hendry McClure and Trinity's Manifold both touched the wall in a time of 20.62 seconds to round out the top-three finishers. 50-Yard Freestyle Interview
