GEORGETOWN, Texas – With a record 12 runners earning all-conference honors, including a second consecutive individual title for sophomore Elliot Singer, the Colorado College women posted just the third perfect score in SCAC women’s cross-country history, earning the program's sixth overall title and third in the last four years Saturday morning on the campus of Southwestern University. With its sixth program title in women's cross country history, Colorado moves past Trinity University into third place alone on the league's all-time list, just behind Rhodes College's seven championships and DePauw University's record nine titles. In what has become an annual battle of the Tigers, CC finished with its largest margin of victory in program history, outpointing Trinity 15-50.
Singer, who finished the hilly 6K campus course in a time of 22:55.20, is the first runner to win back to back individual titles since CC's Leah Wessler won three straight individual titles from 2014 to 2016.
Eleven more CC runners earned All-SCAC honors, including senior Clare Quinn, who finished as runner-up (23:17.60) after placing fifth last year and eight both her freshman and sophomore seasons. First-year Ella Fullerton, who took third (23:18.30), earned Newcomer-of-the-Year accolades for being the highest finishing first-year runner.
Rounding out Colorado's all-conference contingent was junior Jane Mallach who finished fourth (23:18.50), first-year Alison Mueller-Hickler who finished fifth (23:19.90), senior Na'Ama Nevo placed sixth (23:20.30), sophomore Sydney Rankin finished seventh (23:23.70), sophomore Britt Helgaas crossed in eighth (23:27.20), Dafna Williams finished ninth (23:28.50), first-year Liz White placed 11th (23:32.80), first-year Brooktie Frogge was 12th (23:35.00) and sophomore May Lamb finished 14th (23:35.90). The all-SCAC honors are the third career recognitions for Nevo and the second for Rankin.
By placing 12 runners on the all-conference team, Colorado College broke the previous high of nine honorees at a single championship, which was established by the 2012 Trinity team that also posted a perfect score of 15.
The remaining two all-SCAC slots were occupied by Trinity runners with senior Elaine Kaster finishing in 10th (23:31.20) and junior Madison Habeck placing 13th (23:35.20). Habeck is a three-time all-SCAC honoree and Kaster has finished in the top 14 each of the last two seasons.
Texas Lutheran University posted its best finish since 2017 and placed third with 95 points. The Bulldogs were led by senior Mackenzie Payne, who finished 26th - the highest finish of any non-Colorado College or Trinity runner, in a time of 24:41.90. University of St. Thomas was fourth with 117 total team points. The Celts were paced by junior Samantha Hernandez, who was 40th-place in a time of 25:51.80.
The host school Southwestern University, led by sophomore Rachel Chiella's 31st-place finish, was fifth with 128 points, and University of Dallas got a team-best 61st-place finish from first-year Ella Davis to finish sixth with 177 points. Centenary did not have enough runners to score but was led by first-year Madeline Vacula who finished 28th in a time of 24:51.20.
