SHERMAN, Texas - Brandon Johnson has been named the head coach of the Austin College softball program, athletics director David Norman has announced.

Johnson comes to Austin College from the club softball circuit, where he's coached numerous high level players and helped to get 97% of his players to the collegiate level since 2015. Johnson, a native of Arlington who now resides in Midlothian, was a standout baseball player himself, having been drafted by the Kansas City Royals.

"We're excited to have Brandon join the Austin College family and lead our softball program as we head into the 2023 season," said Norman. "He brings a tremendous amount of knowledge to our program, and has been an extremely well respected coach at the club level in the state of Texas. He is a natural leader who is a firm believer in building a positive culture, and his passion for the game is evident."

Johnson founded and has been the coach of the Texas Titans softball club since 2015. Prior to that, he worked with North Texas Prospect Baseball from 2005-2015, where he helped 92% of the prospects with which he worked reach the college level. Through his time coaching both softball and baseball, Johnson has developed expertise in game management and talent development, working with players at every position and helping enable them to achieve outstanding success both on and off the field.
