Howie-in-the-Hills, Fla. – The No. 19/20 Tiger women's golf team has qualified for the final round of play at the NCAA Championships, following the decision to cancel today's third round of play "on the grounds of an unplayable hole for the entire tournament field."

The Tigers were on the course with just a few holes remaining when weather caused a delay in the action, which ultimately ended with the round being canceled.

Trinity was in 10th place after the second round of play, which actually finished early this morning. The second round suffered a weather delay of more than two hours on Wednesday afternoon, which kept several teams from finishing before it became too dark to finish. After the second round was completed, the course was set up for today's third round - which was supposed to be the final day for teams and individuals to qualify for Friday's final round. The top 15 teams and the top six individuals not on those teams would advance after 54 holes of play. Instead, the top 15 teams and the top 12 individuals not on those teams (additional players added by the NCAA III Women's Golf Committee) based on their finish after round two will now be moved forward for the final day of what is now a 54-hole tournament.

With a team score of 648 after two rounds, the Tigers are one shot behind both Amherst College and University of Redlands. Methodist is in seventh just five shots in front of Trinity in seventh place, while Washington University-St. Louis, Emory University, and Carnegie Mellon University are all tied for fourth with scores of 639. Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (638) stands third, while Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (634) is holding onto second. George Fox University is in the lead with a score of 629.

Trinity will tee off at 8:00 a.m. (ET) in tomorrow's final round, playing alongside Washington & Lee University and Centre College.
