GARLAND, Texas - The Trinity University women turned in impressive performances in both relay events to begin day one of the 2022 SCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championship at the Garland ISD Natatorium on Wednesday night. The Tigers raced past the SCAC record in winning the 800-yard freestyle relay by over 5.5 seconds. The team of Mabel Fowler, Meghan Magill, Morgen Reyna, and Emma Hagan touched the wall in a blistering 7:30.68, besting the previous mark of 7:36.27 set in 2020. The win marked Trinity's sixth-straight win in the event and continued the Tigers' dominance in the conference championship as they have won the event at least three-consecutive years on three separate occasions. Trinity opened up the competition earlier in the evening with another record-breaking performance. Fowler, Jadyn Trahan, Caroline Myers, and Hagan set a new league mark in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:45.30, topping the 2016 previous best by just over a quarter of a second. The win also marked the first time the Texas Tigers have won the event in consecutive seasons since they won three in a row from 2011-2013. Southwestern placed second with mark of 1:47.30.
