HOUSTON, Texas -- No. 14 Trinity University Women's Golf collected a pair of top-20 individual performances in the program's first-ever berth into the NCAA III Women's Golf National Championship as the four-round event concluded Friday afternoon.

First-year Alejandra Sanchez De la Fuente Molino posted the tournament's fifth player round under the 70-mark for the week, tied for the third-best performance through any set of 18 holes. The 69 (-3) shot the Spaniard up 10 places on the individual leaderboard for a seventh-place finish overall at 293 (+5) in the event.

The Tiger rookie played even through the back nine after once again starting from the 10th tee, with a par-three birdie on the 14th. She then caught fire immediately after the turn with back-to-back par-four birds. Just two holes later, one of the week's 19 eagles was logged for Trinity on the par-five fifth after a long drive down the left side of the fairway set up an agressive chance at the pin from 100 yards out. A friendly roll left a modest eight foot putt for the rookie that was sunk with ease.

2022 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference medalist Kiona Hsiu carded her second 75 (+3) of the week which kept her in line for a top-20 finish in a four-way tie at 17th, just five shots behind the top ten. The sophomore birdied to start the day from the 10th tee and steadily rode through the course on six consecutive pars, then a hiccup just before the turn left her one-over for her first half. A double on the par-four sixth was the only damage done to Hsiu's performance on the day as she collected eight more pars through the front nine.

The Tigers finished just four shots behind the third-round cutoff line after Thursday's round, which left 14th-ranked Trinity in the 16th spot overall in the program's first-ever appearance at the NCAA III pinacle, under the direction of first-year Head Coach Shelby DeVore. The 2022 campaign also marked just the second time in school history that the Tigers repeated as SCAC Champions, the other occurrence during DeVore's playing career at Trinity between the 2016 and 2017 campaigns.

The 2022 NCAA III Women's Golf National Championship marks the conclusion of the 2021-22 season for Trinity Women's Golf.

Trinity's annual home tournament, the Alamo City Classic, will be held at the Quarry Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas October 11-12, 2022. The remainder of the 2022-23 schedule will be announced later in the summer.
