INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- For the first time in program history, No. 15 Trinity University Women's Golf received an at-large berth into the NCAA III National Championship, per the association's announcement Monday. The 2022 edition of the event will be played May 10-13 at the Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas.

The Tigers enter the 29-team field seeded 14th overall, which is also the team's latest ranking on Golfstat.com, coming off of the program's sixth Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship just two weeks ago. Trinity has won four tournaments during the 2021-22 campaign including the SCAC event, were runners-up in another, and claimed third in the Westbrook Invitational behind University of Redlands (CA) and George Fox University (OR), who enter the national championship seeded fifth and sixth, respectively.

Sophomore Kiona Hsiu leads the Tigers to the NCAA III pinacle as the third Trinity women's player to collect the SCAC individual championship as she broke a 20-plus year record on her four-over 148 tally. A two-time All-SCAC performer and last year's SCAC Freshman of the Year, Hsiu has a trio of player victories this season and averages four-over through 15 rounds of play.

Fellow sophomore Erin Flynn backs up the 2022 SCAC Medalist in the conference record book as her second-day 72 (E) broke the second-round league record. Flynn has posted four top-five finishes this season, in Trinity's four tournament victories, one of which was a runner-up finish to Hsiu in the Lady Bulldog Classic back in September.

The young core for the Trinity lineup is bolstered by first-year Alejandra Sanchez De la Fuente Molino who made an immediate impact this season winning the Alamo City Classic in October, and has been a steady third entry throughout the 2021-22 campaign. The Tiger rookie rounds out a trio of All-SCAC First-Team performers as a consistent six-to-seven over player.

No. 15 Trinity Women's Golf earned the sixth SCAC Championship in program history this season under the direction of first-year Head Coach Shelby DeVore, a former Tiger standout as a three-time All-SCAC player and member of the 2016 and 2017 SCAC Championship teams. DeVore was named to the SCAC 30th Anniversary team last year in recognition of her playing career.

The 2022 NCAA III National Championship begins Tuesday, May 10 at the Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas
