ZIN'TAVIOUS SMITH OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a junior quarterback from Coushatta, La., has been named the SCAC Football Offensive Player of the Week for games played Saturday, October 5. SCAC Football Release (Week 5)

Smith had an impressive all-around performance for the Gents on Saturday in their 35-14 home win over Lyon College in conference play. Smith was Centenary's leading rusher (12 attempts for 72 yards) and passer (10-for-14 for 219 yards and 4 touchdowns). He averaged six yards per carry on the ground with a long rush of 19 and through the air he did not throw an interception and connected with sophomore wide receiver Byron Stewart on an 83-yard touchdown - the Gents' longest play of the season. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior running back Weston Guzman of Texas Lutheran rushed for a career-high 146 yards and a career-high three touchdowns on Saturday as the Bulldogs beat Austin College, 43-34, to improve to 4-1 overall; 3-1 in the SCAC. Sophomore quarterback Jaylon Talton of Austin College had one of the most prolific passing games in school history on Saturday at Texas Lutheran, completing 21-of-39 passes for 388 yards and five touchdowns against zero interceptions. His 388 yards are the most by any 'Roo quarterback since the program transitioned from NAIA to NCAA Division III in 1996, and his 90-yard touchdown throw to Michael Cress is the second-longest touchdown pass in program history. Talton added 49 rushing yards on 11 carries.
