SAMI BORCHALLI OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a junior goalkeeper from Lafayette, La., has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, April 11th.
Borchalli led Centenary to a key conference victory last Saturday to help secure three important points in the standings to lock up an SCAC Tournament spot heading into the final weekend of regular season action. He registered six saves in posting his second shutout of the season and his seventh of his career in a 2-0 win over Schreiner to snap a three-game losing streak.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman goalkeeper Rodrigo Lazo of St. Thomas was steady in goal to lead the Celts to a 5-1 victory last Saturday against Austin College. Sophomore defender JonConnor Rule of Trinity anchored a back line that pinned down Colorado College's offense to just a pair of quality shots in the Tigers' 5-1 victory Friday night, propelling his squad to lead the conference standings with just one regular-season weekend remaining.
