JESS HOEL OF MCMURRY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore quarterback from Abernathy, Texas, has been named the SCAC Football Offensive Player of the Week for games played Saturday, September 21. SCAC Football Release (Week 3)
Hoel completed 17 of 26 passes for 195 yards and three touchdowns as the War Hawks picked up a 31-10 conference victory over Texas Lutheran. It was the third consecutive game Hoel has finished with three touchdown passes without an interception.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior quarterback Zin'Tavious Smith of Centenary rushed 10 times for 135 yards with two touchdowns in Saturdays' 36-17 victory over Austin College. It was the most yards rushing by a Centenary player this season. Smith, whose longest run of the night was 41 yards, was also 3-for-3 passing for 18 yards. Fifth-year wide receiver Eugene Robinson IV of Texas Lutheran scored his first career touchdown in Sunday's 31-10 loss at McMurry.
