TYLER HERRERA OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a sophomore left-handed pitcher from Spring, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Saturday, February 4 through Sunday, February 12. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 1

Herrera dazzled on the mound in the Gents opening day victory over Ozarks, 11-1, tossing a complete game, one-hitter with a career-high 10 strikeouts. He faced 25 batters, allowed the one hit and walked one, all while giving up one unearned run in seven innings of work.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:

Graduate student right-hander Raine Uecker of Schreiner picked up a pair of saves last weekend in helping to lift the Mountaineers to a perfect 3-0 start to open the year. Sophomore right-handed pitcher Jackson Teer of Trinity tossed 7.0 innings without allowing a walk, giving up just one run on six hits and striking out four batters in his season debut. He allowed a run on four hits in the first three innings, then allowed just two singles over his final four innings. Junior Pitcher Luke Sebesta of St. Thomas came in relief of starter Kadin Munson and threw 4.2 no-hit innings of action. Posting three strikeouts and just one walk, Sebesta helped the Celts lock up the Howard Payne series with a 9-3 victory.
