CODY MYERS OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a sophomore pitcher from Friendswood, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, March 18 through Sunday, March 24. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 7
Myers had a sensational week for the Diamond Gents as he went 2-0 in two appearances, both starts, allowing just one earned run in 14.1 IP with three walks and 16 strikeouts. He started in game one of Centenary's DH at Dallas on Monday and was superb as he went seven innings and allowed just two hits with a season and career-high 13 strikeouts. Myers' 13 K's are tied for the second-most in a single game in the division III era (2012-present) in program history. He faced 25 batters and threw 134 pitches with 81 for strikes. He picked up the win in Centenary's 3-2 win over Austin College on Saturday as he allowed just one earned run in 7.1 IP of work. He issued just one walk and struck out three. Myers is now 5-1 with a 1.04 ERA this season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior right-hander Michael Boeke of Trinity led the Tigers to a series-clinching win over Schreiner on Sunday afternoon, in his only appearance of the week. He gave up just one run on four hits over 6.1 innings, and striking out seven batters in the victory. Senior pitcher Stephen Rutherford of Southwestern led the Pirates to a 13-2 win over St. Thomas last Saturday, allowing just two earned runs over seven innings of work. Rutherford scattered five hits, walked one batter and stuck out four batters en route to posting a 1.14 WHIP and a 2.57 ERA on the week. Sophomore right-hander Dylan Krause of Dallas dazzled on the mound last week for the Crusaders posting a 2-0 record in a pair of starts. Krause opened the week leading Dallas to a win 6-3 win over Centenary, going six innings, allowing just one earned run and scattering three hits with six strikeouts. He then closed the week, helping Dallas earn a series win over TLU for the first time since 2016 by picking up the win 5-3 win on Saturday, dealing six innings, allowing just two earned runs and scattering six hits, while striking out nine. In total for the week, Krause tossed 12.0 innings of work, while allowing just nine hits, three earned runs and striking out 15 batters.
