MARISA HERNANDEZ OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a senior third baseman from La Vernia, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Hitter-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, April 18 through Sunday, April 24. SCAC Softball Release - Week 12
Hernandez hit an outstanding .714 at the plate last week, helping the Mountaineers to secure a top-4 seed going into the SCAC Tournament this upcoming weekend. She went 5-for-7, recording at least one hit in all three games of the series and added three RBI, two doubles and two runs scored. Hernandez also walked twice to post an outstanding .778 on-base percentage and finished the weekend with an impressive 1.000 slugging percentage.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior outfielder Annabel Anderson of Dallas was outstanding on the final weekend of the regular season, leading the Crusaders to a pair of SCAC victories over Austin College. It marked the most wins in SCAC play for UD since the 2017 season. Anderson went 3-for-7 at the plate (.429) with three runs scored, one home run, one double and one RBI. Junior outfielder Alex Fletes of Southwestern finished the week with an impressive .714 average at the plate going 5-for-12 in the Pirates’ series versus Schreiner. First-year infielder Lindsey Gonzalez of St. Thomas led the Celts at the plate in a series win over Centenary last weekend. Gonzalez hit .375, going 3-for-8 with two RBI, one run scored and one stolen base. Senior infielder Casey Martin of Texas Lutheran hit .625 at the plate last week as the Bulldogs capped off an undefeated regular season in SCAC play. Martin went 5-for-8 with four runs scored, one double and one RBI. Senior shortstop Brianna Pena of Trinity went 3-for-9 at play last week, highlighted by two hits in a tough 1-0 loss to TLU on Friday night.
