JESS HOEL OF MCMURRY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore quarterback from Abernathy, Texas, has been named the SCAC Football Offensive Player of the Week for games played Saturday, September 14. SCAC Football Release (Week 2)
Hoel completed 18 of 27 passes for 274 yards and three touchdowns as McMurry defeated Lyon, 48-6, in the SCAC opener for both teams.
After two weeks, Hoel leads the SCAC with six touchdown passes with no interceptions, averaging a league-high 278.5 yards passing per game.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior running back Weston Guzman of Texas Lutheran rushed for 100 yards for the first time in his career - rushing for 100 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown in Saturday's SCAC opening 31-8 victory over Centenary. Junior wide receiver Kobe Chambers of Centenary had five catches for 67 yards for the Gents at TLU in their SCAC opener on Saturday night, averaging 13.4 yards per catch. Chambers, who has 14 catches for 173 yards in two games this season, also rushed one time for four yards against the Bulldogs.
