CHRISTIAN CORMIER OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a sophomore from Lafayette, La., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Co-Track Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, March 10 through Sunday, March 16. SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 3
Cormier finished seventh against competition across all divisions in the 100-meters at the Cowboy Relays Bob Hayes Louisiana Challenge hosted by McNeese State. He cross the line in a school record and personal best time of 10.75. The time is currently the fastest in the SCAC and third fastest in the all of Div. III to date.
Cormier shares this week's honor with Dallas' Alex Bozholiv.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior sprinter Jake Land of Concordia put together a pair of fourth place finishes last weekend at the TSU Relays. Land crossed the line fourth in the 100-meters (11.18) and fourth in the 200-meters (23.05) and then ran a leg on the fourth-place finishing 4x100 relay team that turned in a time of 42.78. Senior distance runner Walker Reeves of LeTourneau paced the Yellow Jackets at the Rhodes Invite, posting a pair of program records. Reeves broke the program record in the mile run, finishing sixth, with a time of 4:22.35 and then ran a leg on the winning 4x800 relay team with a program best time of 8:12.49. Junior Daniel Sanderson of Ozarks secured a second-place finish in the 10K at last weekend’s Rhodes Invitational. Sanderson crossed the line in tough windy conditions with a time of 34:40.61. His time is currently the second fastest in the SCAC to date.
