AROUND THE SCAC

Austin College plated seven runs in the second inning and never looked back, topping Arlington Baptist College 12-5 on Tuesday evening at Baker Field. The 'Roos are now 11-26 overall this season with the victory. CJ Adame and Austin Molinaro started the scoring in the second with back to back RBI singles, and Austin Vaughan, Dylan Day, Mason Leech, and Colt Herron all drove in runs during the huge second inning as the 'Roos jumped out to a 7-0 lead. Arlington Baptist got a run back in the third, and two more runs scored in the top of the fourth to cut it to a 7-3 game. However, in the bottom of the fourth Herron singled home a run and Shane Williams drove in two more to push the margin to 10-3, and after a pair of runs by the Patriots in the fifth, Austin College added a run on a sacrifice fly by Vaughan in the fifth and a single by Leech in the eighth to make it a 12-5 final. Herron went 3-for-5 with two RBI and Travis Gibson went 3-for-4 with his fifth triple of the year to lead the 'Roos offensively, while Vaughan, Leech, Adame, and Todd Takabuki all had a pair of hits. Marshall Korn picked up the win in relief, throwing 4.0 innings while allowing two runs on five hits with three strikeouts.

Centenary
recorded a 0-3 week – its first three-game skid of the season – with a loss to cross-town rival LSU-Shreveport and then swept at the University of Dallas. Jemari James posted a .500 batting average, including a pair of doubles and a team-best two RBI. The Gents struggled at the dish hitting just .230 as a team during the week long span. Layton Tromba pitched eight innings in the 1-0 setback on Sunday to UD. Tromba fanned six batters and surrendered four hits. Taylor Henry tossed 10 innings in two appearances and struck out eight hitters in the combined effort. The Gents wrap up the regular season at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at LSUS.

Dallas
(18-21, 12-8 SCAC) went 2-2 on the week. Tuesday evening in Longview, Texas, the Crusaders fell 8-7 and then 4-3 to LeTourneau University in a pair of seven-inning games. Mark Carlson delivered the walk-off hit, and Schierhorn (3-3) was the winning pitcher of record. The Crusaders were efficient on Sunday, taking a 1-0 nine-inning decision in just under two hours. Martin Cronin (2-3) allowed just three hits over eight innings, and Joshua Crapps earned his first save of the season. Dallas (No. 3 seed) will play Trinity (No. 2 seed) in the opening round of the SCAC Championship on Friday at 12 p.m. in Georgetown, Texas.
