SAN ANTONIO, Texas - As part of the Blackout Breast Cancer weekend, Trinity's women's soccer team raised more than $10,000 at its "Scoring for the Cure" fundraiser during last Friday's game.
The Tigers received pledges from friends, families, and local businesses to support Texas WINGS. WINGS is a San Antonio-based charity that provides no-cost breast cancer treatment to uninsured women. Since its inception in 1999, WINGS has enrolled more than 700 women into the program, and delivered in excess of $28 million in healthcare. Visit the organization's Web site at www.texaswings.org.
The money was pledged for goals scored in Friday's game against Southwestern, which was an 8-0 shutout for the Trinity Tigers. With the eight goals scored, the Tiger women's soccer team raised $10,710 for Texas WINGS.
