Trinity and Southwestern Advance to SCAC Women's Championship Match

Top-seeded Trinity University will tangle with third-seeded Southwestern University for the 2013 SCAC Women's Tennis Title. Trinity will be seeking its 17th conference women's tennis championship while Southwestern is looking for its first.

Earlier in the day, #4 Austin College earned a victory over #5 Centenary to start the day, as the 'Roos won 8-1 over the Ladies.

From there, Austin advanced to face top-seeded Trinity in the afternoon, and the Tiger women earned the shutout win - 5-0 - as the match was played to a decision.

In a match was moved up to 11 a.m. with inclement weather expected later in the day, No. 3-seeded Southwestern pulled off the only "upset" of the day with an 8-1 win over No. 2-seeded Colorado College.

Because of potential bad weather forecasts for Sunday, Colorado College and Trinity agreed to attempt to determine the conference championship Saturday night, but lightning caused two delays before thunderstorms forced the teams to postpone until the morning.

In addition to the championship matches, Centenary and Southwestern men will play in the consolation bracket - as will the Centenary and Colorado College women's teams.
