Southwestern Falls to 14th Place After Third Round of NCAA Men's Golf Championship

DESTIN, Fla. - The Southwestern University men's golf team fell seven spots and is in 14th place after the third round of the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship. The Pirates carded a team score of 314 (+30) in the third round today. Official Site | Results 

Southwestern junior Cameron Button, who entered play today with the individual lead, shot a seven over par 78 today and is tied for second place at +1 overall. He's tied with Texas-Tyler's Buddy Hallman.

Button and Hallman are just four shots back of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps' Brad Shigezawa, who shot a two under par 69 today. He entered the third round in fifth place and capitalized on Button's miscues to take the third round lead.

Button's teammate James Charles shot a team-best 74 (+3) and is at +7 for the tournament. His +7 three round score puts him in a tie for 13th place. Also scoring for Southwestern was Cody Hebert and Jordan Cowart who each carded 81's on the day (+10).

Transylvania (+20) holds a two stroke lead on second place Texas-Tyler (+22). Rounding out the top five was Methodist (+31), Illinois Wesleyan (+37) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Emory find themselves tied for fifth at +40.

Southwestern is just six strokes back of 10th place St. John Fisher and St. John's (Minn.) as the Pirates are +55 through three days of competition.
